March 2015 Miami, FL - Excitement fills the air! Once again this vibrant festival of Latin culture graces Little Havana. The Kiwanis of Little Havana organized this festival many years ago to aid the Hispanic community.
You certainly don’t have to be Hispanic to enjoy this festival. You do have to bring your dancing shoes and your appetite as besides the tantalizing temptations from the vendors, there are many restaurants featuring Latin food and Cuban dance show in Miami.
Calle 8 takes place in Little Havana along 8th Street, from SW 8th Avenue to SW 27th Avenue. Yes it is a large venue and has boasted in the past, the world’s longest conga line. It is March 15, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Of course it is the music which is the biggest draw. In the past Latin Jazz icons like Celia Cruz, Patato “King of the Congas” Valdez and Tito Puente have performed in front of mesmerized eyes and ears.
This year performers include Venezuelan born Chino & Nacho. Cuban Charanga, and if you’re hip Great Son bands, getting down with real “Salsa”. Cuban artist Humberto Benitez has designed a beautiful poster for the event, including a fabulous Cuban Miami Conga comparsa congaline.
So dress comfortably and be ready to immerse yourselves in Latin Culture this March 15. It’s good to be alive!
